Psychological first aid for companies

Training to become
"Psychological first aid for companies"

The "mental first aider" is the first point of contact in companies or teams and groups when people lose their mental balance or even become in a state of emergency.

Triggers can be crises in a professional context, such as chronic overwork, bullying, escalation of conflicts or an acute reaction to an unexpected event such as dismissal, an accident or even an attack, but also private crises or conflicts such as financial worries, a separation or sick family members.

Dealing with those affected

When someone is physically injured, everyone knows that immediate action must be taken and usually knows what to do next.

In the case of psychological "injuries", things are usually different - colleagues or friends look away, look condescendingly, or make comments like "It'll be okay" or even "Don't make such a fuss".

Psychological disorders can limit everyday professional and private life just as much as physical disorders, so it is just as important to take action early.

Course of training

"Mental health first aiders" have an important role to play in the company - they can either be actively contacted by those affected as a central contact person, for example within the framework of company health management, or as first aiders on a specific occasion. Managers can also expand their knowledge here and keep a close eye on changes in the behavior of their employees or colleagues in their groups and teams.

In this seminar, you will learn the basics about mental disorders and their symptoms, as well as suggestions for dealing with stressed employees. You will also receive advice on how to proceed in other treatment options and emergencies.

The training takes place on two days for 4 hours each and is online via Zoom offered.

If there are enough participants, we would also be happy to offer this training internally in your company.

Important topics

In the training to become a "Psychological First Aider for Companies" you will learn the most important basics about the origin, progression and main symptoms of the most common psychological disorders as well as possible treatment methods.

During the eight hours, we will deal with the most important symptoms and disorders that you may encounter in the work context.
The biggest challenge here is that many of the symptoms cannot be seen and these people are usually still functional in the work context.

In particular, burnout, anxiety disorders and depression with associated somatic or physical symptoms such as sleep disorders or concentration and memory disorders have increased sharply in recent years as a result of the pandemic and the multiple wars with their effects on society as a whole and have an impact on people's thinking, emotions and actions on many levels.

The content is supplemented by important topics that are not officially included in the list of mental disorders, but are not uncommon. These include the topics of stress, burnout, bullying and the special challenges posed by New Work.

Concrete content

The following content is taught theoretically during the training and practiced practically in small groups:

  • Why the topic is currently relevant anyway

Your trainer

Her trainer Bettina Tittel – founder and director of the Academy for Mental Health – spent almost 20 years in her own advertising agency, studying how people "function" in the context of advertising psychology.
During this time, she has already worked for many years as a trainer for media designers and as a trainer for software solutions for various continuing education institutes. Through her varied work, she has already gotten to know many different people and industries and is therefore able to empathize well with individual challenges and crises.

For over 10 years, she has been focusing on topics related to mental health, such as stress management, burnout prevention or resilience training, and has also completed training as a "natural health practitioner for psychotherapy" (unfortunately the only way in Germany to obtain an official therapy license through second-chance education) in order to be able to more clearly define when someone is "still healthy or already ill".

In order to gain a better insight into the individual disorders, she has worked in various projects such as the so-called "ABP - Outpatient Psychological Care" (usually following a hospital stay) and in this context has become familiar with most disorders such as anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, addiction disorders or even burnout and depression. In the meantime, she has supported and accompanied people in many hundreds of individual sessions to find their way back to a powerful everyday life.
